![]() ![]() The Internet, as terrifying a cesspool as it can be, was something of a hidden-if still problematic-safe space for female nerds for a little while. It’s not just the stereotype of “slutty” cosplay, it’s the alienation of walking into a community that claims to desire acceptance and then refuses entrance to potential members on the basis of gender. It’s that type of bias that keeps women out of comic book shops and away from conventions. To you, I can’t be a real nerd because of what’s between my legs or because I wear make-up in a couple of my pictures. The way you’re viewing me now is defined only by what you see: a girl.
